FAQ

How are height-based reference weights calculated?

At heights of 5 ft (152.4 cm) or more, this tool compares Devine, Robinson, Miller and Hamwi. Below 5 ft, those formulas are not validated, so only the BMI-based healthy weight range is shown.

What is the healthy BMI band?

A BMI of 18.5–24.9 is widely considered healthy for adults. The chart overlays that weight range for your height alongside each formula estimate.

Are reference weights exact?

No. They are rough height-based references and do not account for muscle, frame or body composition. Consult a professional for individual advice.

Why do the four formulas differ so much?

They were created in different eras using different clinical conventions, largely to estimate drug dosing—not to define an aesthetic standard. Their disagreement is why the results are shown as a reference span rather than one ideal value.

Does it support metric and imperial?

Yes — enter your height in centimeters or inches and it shows results in both kg and lb.
